After reports that Manchester City were keen to hijack Bayern Munich’s move for Florian Wirtz, BILD believes that Liverpool held talks with the German talent.

The popular tabloid’s journalist Christian Falk suggested that Wirtz sat down with Liverpool officials on Tuesday.

The meet-up was organised while Wirtz and his entourage briefly landed in Blackpool before heading down to Manchester.

Having won the Premier League with games to spare, the red half of Merseyside is clearly intent on next season’s preparations.

Manchester City are also in contact with the 22-year-old’s father and agent Hans Wirtz.

However, the hierarchy at Bayern Munich remain confident that Wirtz will keep his word and sign for Die Rekordmeister before anyone else.
