Samuel Essende has been handed down a lengthy four-game ban from the DFB’s Control Committee, the club has announced.
The striker was sent off in the 12th-minute in the away game at VfB Stuttgart for a foul on Angelo Stiller following VAR intervention.
As Stiller was injured and Essende had already received a red card against FSV Mainz 05 earlier this season, his ban was increased by two more games.
Samuel Essende found Angelo Stiller after the final whistle to apologise to him and wish him a speedy recovery.
Essende will therefore not only miss FC Augsburg’s final game of the season on Saturday FC Union Berlin, but also the opening three league fixtures of next season.
