Speaking at his press conference this afternoon, VfL Bochum head coach Dieter Hecking said he is relishing tomorrow’s relegation six-pointer against FC Heidenheim.
“I like games like this. The anticipation for this final is huge. When I started here, no one expected we’d get this chance. The only thing on my mind is that we’ll win in Heidenheim.
“I have my starting eleven in mind. Tomorrow, it’s all about working together. The guys on the field have to support each other. If we can do that, we have a good chance and can hurt Heidenheim,” he added.
Hecking went on to praise the fans who turned out to show the team some support at training today, and lauded his players’ desire to take on any opponent big or small.
“The team has shown character for months. They were down and out and have bounced back. It doesn’t matter who plays for us tomorrow. Every player will give it their all.
“Tomorrow will, of course, be a battle, an intense duel. The question will be who makes fewer mistakes and how well they can exploit their opponent’s mistakes,” he concluded.
