Diogo Leite was stretchered off during Union Berlin’s 1-1 draw with VfL Bochum after taking a powerful blow to the throat.
After a night in the hospital, Leite is back home, and fortunately, there seems to be no long-term damage.
However, Union Berlin will not take any risks with the centre-back, who will miss the club’s remaining three matches of the season, according to Bild.
With Union Berlin already assured of their Bundesliga status, Leite will focus on maintaining his fitness individually for the remainder of the campaign.
The 26-year-old centre-back has featured 31 times for the capital club this season.
