After it was announced that Eric Dier would depart Bayern Munich for AS Monaco in summer, fans voiced their disappointment at the club’s decision to let him go.

Twitter/X was awash with comments emphasising how sad supporters of Die Rekordmeister are to see him depart after the season ends.

One reads: “It’s so incredibly stupid to let go of a player who fully identifies with the club, wants to stay, doesn’t cost a lot of money and is a solid backup”.

Others said: “He came at a critical time, exceeded all our expectations, valued the shirt and became an important figure in the dressing room”.

Some fans were highly critical of Bayern’s director of sport Max Eberl, whose relationship with the Bavarian club appears to be deteriorating on a weekly basis.

“All those [players] who are thought to identify with the club are being chased off the court. Top performance, Mr.Eberl – absolutely brilliant”.

Sky Germany are aware Monaco’s appeal is greater given the guarantee of more game time and a two-year deal, compared to Bayern’s year-long extension offer until 2026.
