3 Players Liverpool FC Are Linked With?

This article is about 3 players who Liverpool FC have been linked with recently and hence players I’ve seen multiple posts about. As a Dane, I have watched a lot of players who have been through our league system and of course, Danish players in general.

I found myself tempted to do a write up about some of these players who meet the conditions of having a past in the Danish league(s) and who have been rumoured to be of interest to Liverpool FC. This is purely my personal views and thoughts from reading these rumours and I do not claim to have followed the players’ careers after departing from the Danish league.

Kudus:
A popular guy on liverpool-rumours.co.uk it seems. Especially his second season in the Danish Superliga, he was immense. Strong and fast, looked like a man amongst kids. Still his overall play is not close to being the best I’ve seen in the league. Wingers like Sulemana (Southampton), Schjelderup (Benfica) and Nuamah (Lyon) – the best young wingers I’ve ever seen in the Danish league – looked more like players who would end up being linked with the biggest clubs in the world.

If I remember correctly, he played a lot of central midfield, but couldn’t back this claim up with information from Transfermarkt. Personally, I didn’t expect him to get this far so quickly. His first season at Ajax wasn’t that great, but again he delievered the goods in the second season. Funnily enough, it’s the other way around at West Ham United.

Ekitike:
I’ve been excited to talk about this one. He was actually on loan at my hometown team for 6 months. Looked the real deal for a young guy, but only played around 11 matches. Clearly had experience from Ligue 1 and played very much for himself. If this was down to knowing it would be a short term spell at the club or this is a general thing about his play, I do not know. Whenever I watch him he strikes me as a player that does not offer much with the ball. The reason why I am excited to talk about him is that his name always reminds me of another player who was on loan at my hometown club.

Big Paul Onuachu. Yes, the big lump from Southampton. He was so good both at Vejle and FC Midtjylland, and have actually had a very decent career with many goals across different european leagues. He was so popular at Vejle that people would cheer when he warmed up to come on from the bench. If you would have asked me who was the better player at their time in the Danish league, I would say Onuachu every day of the week. Funny how things turn out.

Morten Frendrup:
As a Dane, I can share some insights, but I can’t claim to be following him closely. He did start his career in the Danish club, that I support, and was a bright talent, but never someone who you’d expect to make it to one of the biggest clubs in the world. His stats in Serie A do seem impressive, but he still strike me as a very limited player. IMO closer to being an Endo than a Gravenberch.

In terms of the national team, he is only a fringe player. He is getting closer to being a part of the team, but far away from being anything close to a regular. Behind players like Højbjerg, Nørgaard, Eriksen, Hjulmand, Jensen (Brentford) . How many of these players would you deem close to good enough for this Liverpool squad? Personally, I feel Hjulmand is by far a better player, and I can’t see Frendrup being able to do anything that Hjulmand can’t do.

I guess that’s my assesment of the player. Even if he is good enough to take the next step in his career, I cannot imagine he is the type of player that Arne Slot would want. A little addition: Actually, he even seems to be behind O’Riley (Brighton) in the pecking order. At the latest international break where Denmark was playing against Portugal, he was even behind a couple of young players from the Danish Superliga. Take this as you’d like.

And lastly, a little bonus information. Tsimikas actually also played in the Danish League many years ago and let me tell you he was not good. I promise you nobody could have predicted he would be a Premier League winner one day.
